Mila Davis
New city.. new prospects. But – a distinct lack of good known places to eat. Hrmp. That left the Lord simply snacking on a Big Mac as she stood lingering on a street corner under a lamp like some ghetto-rat. Her dark hair was left down and it shaded her face just a bit. A dark hoodie was wrapped around her lithe form to protect her from the cool bay breezes. She’d spent the afternoon looking for a good place to both live and set up a headquarters here in this damn big city.
Perhaps the other two had better luck today..
Rory
It’s been a while since she’s traveled. The last time was to the home sept for her challenge, and before and after she’s been exclusively in chicago. To say the big bad ahroun is slightly terrified is not an understatement.
But they’d asked – and she’d do anything for Adara. Including packing her backpack, strapping on her guitar, and traveling across the country seeking sunshine.
[And other things. Like acceptance for their blossoming relationship in a city that sees it as normal, despite the Nation that doesn’t. ]
So it is, she walks with Adara, her guitar slung across her back, her backpack hanging from a shoulder, and her hands shoved into her pockets. Can’t miss that red hair, or the wide-eyed wonder at her new surroundings… can’t miss it at all.
Adara Mires
She walks with Rory, dressed in jeans with a tank top on, sandals and sunglasses. She had her things with her, guitar on her back, a backpack and her two pet rats: Hope and Harmony.
Rory and her have been looking at places and there was 2 one bedrooms that could fit their budget..
She grins at Rory’s amazement and then wave as she spots Mila, sending her a greeting through the link before saying “Hey gorgeous, how are you doing?”
Mila Davis
Mila no longer had her small assortment of things. She’d gotten a hotel room for a few nights – she paid in cash and the owner decided not to bother her much about it. Thus, she’d left her things there and the rest, well.. it was in storage back in Chicago until they found a place to live.
The Lord grinned a bit and lifted a hand in greeting, even as she finished the last bite of her burger. Chew, chew, swallow. “Hey ladies. I’m good. Yourselves? Any luck on finding a good place to hang our hats?”
“And anyone notice how freakin miserable to wind is here?”
Rory
Rory grins shyly, ducking her head as she does so to hide the smile behind her curls – but her head doesn’t stay down long – there’s so much to SEE… and the buildings are bigger, and different, and… she doesn’t get out much, Rory.
She belatedly blinks, and tips her head. they came from Chicago – this wind is nothing. she shrugs, and resumes looking around eagerly. She doesn’t speak much – not out loud, not through the link, where they’ll notices her disability is just as noticiable as it is in her speech. So she’s quiet, and they get little flashes of delight as she sees something glittery and new again and again and again….
Adara Mires
She shrugs with a grin “Wind is wind. We have the ocean nearby, warm climate, nature not too far. I think I’ll like it here. As for a place to stay… found a few potential places for Rory and I if you wanted to have your privacy. I know you have fans and all. Maybe you don’t want people to think you’re having gay tendencies, living with 2 women you know”
She smiles “I did spot a nice place that seemed big enough for all of us if you want us around more than once in a while”
Mila Davis
“I think I left most of the fans back in Chicago.. so that really shouldn’t be a worry..” She tossed the burger wrapper into the near by trash can. “I’d rather stick together – the three of us- for now. At least until we know what our presence is here in the city.”
Mila pushed off of the light post and stepped a little closer to the pair. “Have either of you seen any relatives? I haven’t seen, nor caught the scent of anyone yet.. which concerns me. If there’s not a lot of us – what else might be calling this damp place home?”
Rory
Fans? Rory tips her head, slightly, and smiles uncertainly at Mila. She really doesn’t know her very well yet – but then again, anyone that helps her with learning the guitar is gold in her book. Adara’s taught her a lot, and she loves to get everone’s different styles and experiences. It’s something she’s grown to love… and she treats Ruarc’s guitar as if it were gold.
She shakes her head slightly – hasn’t seen any relatives, or anyone she knows, but OH LOOK AT THAT BUILDING… she stands, her head tipped back and back and back, searching for the top of it with a pleased little smile…
Adara Mires
“All right, we can go check the place I saw tomorrow. We’ll stay close to each other, just in case”
She seems to think about Mila’s question “Hmmm not sure. I mean for us to lose a gathering place, it means something nasty took over the place. Maybe there is a city hive, bigger and closer than Chicago’s, or leeches? Unless it’s something worst, which means we’ll have our work cut out for us ladies”
She smiles “Yet with the two of you by my side and Bachhus watching over us, we’ll make it.
Mila Davis
“Of that I have no doubt.” She grinned. No relatives so far.. means no one in seats of power. Ooh.. her little brain was already awash with plans to seize those seats for herself – well, at least one of them. What was a Shadow Lord if not a little ambitious? If it didn’t work out.. well, no matter – but it was at least worth thinking about for the moment.
“I got us a hotel room – it’s got two beds, if you guys are ok with that. I figured that’d buy us a few nights to nail down a more permanent place to stay. I can’t wait to see the place tomorrow.”
“You play?” She asked Rory, noting the guitar.
Rory
She peeks at Adara when Mila mentions that hotel room, her head tipping slightly, but she says nothing, of course, until the Shadow Lord directs her attention to her guitar, and it results in a happy little smile.
“Learning.” Single words are easier. Her deformity gives her difficulty with learning, but she powers her way through with the clever ideas of Ruarc’s MP3 player, and Adara’s patience. “got nood yet.”
Adara Mires
She nods to Mila “All right, we’ll spend some time together in that hotel room until we have our official packhouse”
She chuckles at Rory’s modesty “She lies, she’s really good. Hard worker and fast learner. I guess we’ll have lots of fun jamming when we have out place.”
2 Galliards and one Ahroun guitar player. They will have quite the musical packhouse. She feels actually giddy at the moment, the moon comnig up..her moon the waxing moon. She wants to do so much but can’t for they have things to talk and do…but she would love to play some music, dance all night, get drunk, run naked in the woods or on all four…naughty things…
Maybe she could go to the room and put her things there then see who’s game for a night out in the city.
Some of her restlessness can be felt through the link. She really want to move. Her moon always filling her with energy spent on being alive.
Mila Davis
Oh yes, they’d be quite the trio. Who knows – maybe they could make a bit of extra cash playing here and there. {That is, if the collection of Rage didn’t scare everyone off.} “Awesome – I’d love to hear you play sometime. We’ve got three guitars and a bit of time on our hands to kill.. I anticipate you’ll get lots of practice in, Rory.”
“Wanna head out?” Mila motioned with a tilt of her head down the street to the south. Assuming that they’d agree.. the young woman started down the sidewalk; hands jammed into the back pocket of her jeans, humming slightly.
Rory
She blushes brightly under Adara’s praise, her head ducking to hide it behind those red, red curls. She shifts her weight, uncertainly, but falls into step with the others as they head toward the south, and this hotel room.
She feels the Fury’s restlessness, and walks close to her, shoulders brushin on occasion, though nothing overtly obvious. She doesn’t know what Mila’s been told about her, after all.
Soon, however, she’s captivated by the city again – all shiney and new to her. The ultimate tourist, she seems delighted with the smallest little discoveries… like seeing her first cable car, and walking up one of the eight million hills in San Francisco… It’s all new, and exciting.
Adara Mires
She grins “I think we could find gigs here and there, some just by oneself, some with all of us once we have some contacts. That might be a better way to do things. I will love being on stage with both of you”
She start walking with her pack mates, needing to move “I was thinking that later we could stop by the Hotel, change clothes and have some fun tonight. Let’s go dance, play pool, get drunk, something to celebrate this new beginning..and certainly have at least a drink for Marni who stayed in Chicago”
She misses the curvy Ragabash. She reach in her pocket and with just one hand, start to text her to say hi and how much she’s missed.
Adara Mires
Mila’s post:
“I think that sounds fun. We owe a little indulging to our dear patron for getting us here safely.. and who knows – maybe in his wisdom he might decide to show us some more clues as to just why we are here.” She glanced back at the pair, green eyes bright with amusement. “I was kinda hoping that maybe I could get drunk enough and he’d light up a big neon arrow pointing at the heart of what we want to find. If that happens.. I’m doing a victory dance.”
Rory
She hides a little giggle at the idea of a neon arrow pointing them to where they want to go, but she doesn’t say anything. She does look up to meet Adara’s eyes, nodding that she’s up for anything – especially the getting drunk and celebrating, no matter in what form they do it in.
Especially if it involves a run, and someplace wild under the stars, before going back to the shared hotel room.
[And in chicago – Marni gets her text message, and smiles, softly, even a little sadly. She only had them a little while before she was packless again. She’s a survivor though, and perhaps someday she’ll join them. For now, she rocks Indy, and tells him stories of the Fury and the Shadow Lord that think he is the most handsome boy alive…]
Adara Mires
“All right, it is set. We’re going clubbing, get drunk and then eventually find our way to the hotel room.” He bump Rory’s hip with her, looking into her eyes. Green like hers, like Mila’s. It was a cute coincidence but still might make people talk about the green eyed pack or something.
“And maybe we’ll stumble upon our goal. But I think we’ll have to be really clever about all this. If others haven’t found it yet..it won’t be easy .Though with some luck, some skill and the best totem, we will do it.”
She put her phone back in her pocket and reach into the side pocket of her backpack for some cheese that she gives the two rats to eat, checking if they had enough water in their little bottle.
Mila Davis
Maybe they were special – gifted – blessed. Something. There had to be a connection between the three green eyed and altogether very different garou females packing. It was a sign. Or so Mila’d take it. Her heart had broken as they left Marni behind.. but the decision had been a sound one for the well being of her family. Mila might have done the same.. had her mate still been alive.
A flash of sadness passed across her features for only a moment as she remembered.. and considered what life might have been. On the way to San Fran she’d suggested they stop in St. Louis. Shortly after they arrived, she simply stopped the car and went to stand beside a light post which was still slightly scuffed and bent from the crash. She’d simply told her packmates that she needed to remember someone, when their unspoken looks had asked the question. The pervasive sadness had been palpable over the link. It passed though – the further they got from St. Louis and only now returned in a brief flash.
“First round’s on me..”
Rory
Rory is never one to believe she is special. She believes whole-heartedly that Adara is, is certain that Mila is as well. She is lucky to have been included, honestly, and to be part of a pack again. She tried with the Last WAtch – but they never invited her in.
Adara did. Mila did. And she is willing to give her life for them because of it.
She offers to buy the first round, and Rory is grateful, as she hasn’t had time to set up connctions here like she had at home, and is woefully low on funds.
“Ok.” Single words are always easier.
Adara Mires
Like in St-Louis, Adara sends her friend a warm comforting pulse through the link. She was there, they were there for Mila. As Mila was there for them. She reached to squeeze the Lord’s shoulder gently with a smile
“All right, you get the first, I’ll take the second and see how fast we get drunk .Though we need some dancing before being too drunk. I really want to move”
She grins at Rory with a playful wink. There will be dancing and other types of moves later. She reaches for the redhead’s hand, intertwining her fingers together.
She had told Mila about them, the city wasn’t full of Garou, she had nothing to hide at the moment and wanted to show the city that the shy Fianna was hers..all hers..well the pack’s too be that was..different.
Adara Mires
(Here’s my post..) Mila appreciated the gesture of comfort and friendship. She didn’t speak about her loss much – simply because she didn’t want to be seen as weak. Her tribe might take advantage of it.. but she knew she was safe with them and thus, much like how Adara and Rory didn’t hide their feelings for each other, Mila didn’t hide hers either.
“I think that sounds like an excellent plan. Oh, wait.. by the way.” She dug out two key cards from her pocket and offered them out. “One for each of you. Room 312 at the Hilton. That way, incase we get seperated.. we can all get back to the room.” And yes, Mila had plans to leave them alone for at least part of the night.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket and after a quick glance at the screen, Mila spoke up again. “I gotta take this.. I’ll meet you at the hotel room and just a few, ok?”
Rory
Adara takes her hand, and she blushes brightly, even as she laces her fingers with Adara’s, chewing on her lower lip absently. She peeks up to see Mila’s reaction, unsure how she feels about such an open display, and simply… nervous… about the whole thing.
Adara is forbidden, for so many reasons. Yet Rory simply can’t help herself… and doesn’t want to.
She reaches to take the key, tipping her head slightly as she looks at it, looks at the writing on it, and can’t make sense of it. She memorized the name of the hotel though, in case she gets seperated from Adara, though there’s very little chance of that happening. She simply tucks the card into her pocket, and smiles.
Adara Mires
She smiles to Mila, nodding her thanks for the keys as she reaches for it and for her unspoken discretion for later.
“All right hun, take your call, we’ll see you at the hotel” She gives Mila a quick one arm hug, letting go of Rory’s hand for a moment then take it again, chuckling at her lover’s reaction to the key
“We get separated, just send a message through the bound baby, I’ll remind you the mane of the hotel, the room and send you directions” All in images so the redhead will know exactly where to go.
Rory
She breathes a sigh of relief as Adara gives her simple instructions and reminds her they’re connected via Totem now, and she can always ask for help if she gets lost.
She smiles, shyly, and takes Adara’s hand again, moving close to touch her on as many points as possible given the luggage they carry and the fact they are in public, and clothed.
“Ok.”
Simple word – and a lot of feeling behind it.
