AnneMarie | Battle with the snot monster [Ewan/Andy]

[AnneMarie Hoch]
Another day, another night, another patrol. It seems that no matter what things have changed, no matter how the people differ, no matter how much closer the enemy is – everything is still remarkably the same. She, in all outward appearances, is the same as well. However, inside – she has grown in ways few will ever know.

But it is the appearance that matters for all intents and purposes. And her appearance is the same. Long strides, silent strength, steadfast confidence.

[Action Jackson]
(may I?))
[Ewan Selwyn]
*His ’68 Cougar is parked on the street, engine ticking as it cooled in the night’s air. On the hood reclined aginst the front window Sits/reclines, Ewan. He’s in his green converse all stars, old jeans that are well broken in. A western style button up, black with yellow stitching, and a jean jacket. There’s a Aussie style hat on his head. Beside him on the hood is a 10lbs bag from Taco Bueno. In one hand…. a 1lbs Burrito.*
[AnneMarie Hoch]
((sure thing)
[Ewan Selwyn]
(( Yupp))
[Action Jackson]
((thank you kindly))
[Action Jackson]
to AnneMarie Hoch
((To the point…I’m sorry Lessa for being snippy))
[AnneMarie Hoch]
Where one might suggest she is beautiful, she would never agree. Tall, lean strength is boistered by a confidence in movement, a grace that is natural and animal at once, a predators cast to smooth, strong features. She is what many would wish to be – yet in this, her society, her circles, she is unilaterally broken, and both unacceptable, and accepted at once.

Heels click a tattoo along the cement walk, as she nears the cougar, and the familiar form atop it.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
to Action Jackson
(np.)
[Action Jackson]
Who in the fecking right mind would EVER patrol in this BRUTAL, windy, COLD environment without the creature comforts provided by the warmth from your vehicle’s heater? No, our little Andy is not the tough, heroic Gaian of legend. In fact, his blood is so thin he’d probably be overlooked nine times out of ten. Irregardless, here comes the man whose speakers are blasting a mix of today’s latest hits. So this means a fair amount of rock with bouncy hip hop. Hell, he’s even in seat bouncing as he drives around.
[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan’s ears hear Andy long before his super expensive car is seen. One of the benifits, or is it bans, of being a child of Digital bat. His glassy blue eyes slip over to look at the Audi. Then back to his burrito. He takes a savage bite and chews. A sniff of the air and those same glassy blue eyes slip around. Finding Am’s approach. A finger reaches up slowly and touches the brim of the ausssie hat. A very human like sign of respect.
Then the hand dips down into the bag. Grabbing one of the pound burrito’s and chucking it lightly her way.*
[Action Jackson]
to AnneMarie Hoch
((That Andy is not dead yet still surprises me….))
[AnneMarie Hoch]
There is an instinct – when something is thrown at you, you attempt to catch it. At times, for no apparent reason, she ignores this instinct. This time however, as it was preceded by that moment of respect and greeting, her hand slides from her pocket and the burrito lands in her palm as slick as you please. It looks almost coreographed, but it is nothing more then reflexes honed in the short years of her life.

A dip of her chin is the thanks that is given, though she doesn’t unwrap the burrito, but slips it into her pocket.

[Action Jackson]
The red light changes and the purring refinery of Engineering genius comes to a stop somewhere past Ewan’s Cougar. A moment later as one song ends and the pause before another begins, the engine is cut off and the door opens allowing the pencil-neck-esque computer geek to alight from said vehicle.

Looking about as if lost momentarily and then deciding upon some route, he begins heading back towards Ewan.

[Ewan Selwyn]
*He raised a brow as she tucked it away and chuckeld* I don’t think the wrapper’s going to hold that grease for more than a few minutes. Might wanna watch ya jacket there.

*Taking another bite of his burrito he chewed. Hand dips into the bag again and chucks another burrito, this one over his shoulder and the back of the car, towards Andy*

[AnneMarie Hoch]
A slim brow arches slightly, and she simply takes the burrito back out of the pocket and steps forward to set it on the edge of the hood of Ewan’s car. Oddly enough – not many have seen her eat. And when they do, they are amused by her cleanliness. Most likely she will wait to eat until she is no longer before an audience.

The constant strive for perfection – it is never ending.

Pale gaze shifts toward the other one catching a burrito, and then back to Ewan, a sllight lift of her chin in question.

[Ewan Selwyn]
*He chuckeld and swallowed* Andy. He’s one of Digital Bat’s boys. Andy this is Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie, this is Andy. *He wriggles a bony finger on his free hand and takes the last bite of the burrito in the other hand*
[Action Jackson]
Honed Grace and perfection? Oh Hell no. Andy attempts to catch the flying burrito and fails. Splat. A few mumbled curses as he leans over and picks it up before continuing on his way. The wrapper has lost its hold in some areas, but after a minute inspection he takes what has been proferred…

“Helroo AnnnMmaaaree” said as he has a bite in his mouth. Sometime between 4 and 5.27 seconds, Andy begins to blush.

“Uhh sorry…manners” shaking his head. “Nice to meet you AnneMarie”

[AnneMarie Hoch]
Perhaps there is a bit of amusement that passes through pale gaze as that burrito drops to the ground, but it flickers away very quickly – so much so there’s no telling if it existed at all. A lift of her chin in greeting towards Andy, then back to Ewan.

And everything, of course, is in silence.

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan fishes out another burrito for himself and nods to AM* She doesn’t say much, but boy can she curse like a sailor if you grab her ass. *Unwrap and bite. Chew and then scratch at one knee though his jeans* How’s patrolin’ going for the Eagles? *He raises his brows over those glassy clear blues*
[Action Jackson]
His brow rises a moment and by the certain way his eyes flicker over to AM, it is MORE than clear he’s considering testing this for purely scientific reasons of course.

Eagle.

Almost involuntarily, Andy swallows and it has nothing to do with the burrito, which he takes another bite thereof to try and act sly

[AnneMarie Hoch]
Interesting. There’s a quirk at the corner of her lips at the thought of her cursing – let alone like a sailor. She brushes her fingertips against each other, where the grease from the burrito had gotten on them, and after a moment, turns to Study Andy as he contemplates his death.

Her expression is bland, steady, intense. Only when he decides to live by swallowing does she return her gaze to Ewan and pulls the whiteboard from her pocket. Pen to smooth surface, and the answer is given.

~The same.~

[Ewan Selwyn]
*his eyes read over it and he nods* Yeah. Two of my people.. *he glances at Andy for a moment then* Have been putting in overtime with your packmate. Jedi and I have been patrolin’ the caern and our little swath of town. It’s quiet.. You know. Like in those old B movies when some fucker goes “It’s TOO quiet” then somone looses a head? Like that. *Glancing up and down the down town street*
[Action Jackson]
He smirks…”Whats with the look?”

So abrupt he nearly forgets all propriety and the fact that Ewan is his alpha…though its just Andy’s personality

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan chuckels* Wondering why you wern’t doing just that. But I suppose everyone has to sleep and eat.
[Action Jackson]
Wiping his nose and looking a bit pale for a moment. He could use some iron in his diet.

“Look…That Three-fingered guy has me running errands left and right. Just because I’ve spent most of my time playing Quake and improving my skills…instead of out there learning these rites…but I’m working on it Ewan…its just taking me some time”

Frowning, cursing under his breath, he takes another bite of the burrito

[Ewan Selwyn]
*he nods* It’s all good. Long as you’re pitchin’ in and learning. We each do as best we’re able. *Glancing at AM. Knowing the 3 fingered guy is her brother*
[AnneMarie Hoch]
What is with the look indeed. She is tempted – sorely so – but refrains. After all, it is what she is known for, her restraint and calmness in any situation. She says nothing, of course, but a lift of her chin agrees with the fact that it is too quiet.

She watches Andy scramble a bit, and then pale gaze slides across the streets, slowly, consideringly, carefully. There are somethings that need no words – that she is still patrolling, though she stands still, is evident.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
A glance toward Ewan and Andy. Said three-fingered guy has a name. Perhaps that look suggests it be used.
[Action Jackson]
Fidgeting a bit nervous now, he tries to comfort himself by wrapping his coat closer to him.

“Well its not like I know him personally. Too nervous to use his name.,,,sir usually works…”

HE sighs. why does he always dig himself holes…a hole with Ling would be nice. Some few seconds later he’s blushing again

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan wipes his mouth* Hyde. *Nodding to Andy. Then shrugging to Am. What could ya do. Ewan didn’t actually interact with the big guy himself. Being metis there was a bit of shared respect though*
[AnneMarie Hoch]
To quiet. Awfully quiet. There are days it simply doesn’t pay to get out of bed – it is either twoo quiet, and not enough action, or something creaps up and sucks your head into a vise until you scream for mercy. Tonight… well, time will tell.

There are sounds though – those of the city, those of the dark underbelly, and by Andy’s foot, a mangy cat slinks up, hoping for a handout. The meow is weak, and dry, and pained. The look – pitiful, and pathetic.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
A slight nod, and lips curl into something of a smirk – there and gone again. She respects Hyde as brother in arms, packmate and friend. Seeing Andy’s discomfort is amusing.
[Action Jackson]
He nods then mouthing the word Hyde once and the twice and its gone to the data warehouse deep with the recesses of his brain.

Looking down and cocking his head, Andy leans lower and tears apart the remains of his burrito. Offering the pieces to the mangy cat one piece at a time.

“Got some water Ewan?”

[AnneMarie Hoch]
to Action Jackson, Ewan Selwyn
(heh. it’s my turn to run a RAR. feel free to run away fast if ya like. *L*)
[Ewan Selwyn]
*He looked over the side of the car he was reclinin’ on* Um… becareful man. Fought a giant mutant cat not too long back….. Not sayin’ everything’s connected but… you know. Make sure it doesn’t have 6 legs or 3 eyes or something….
[Action Jackson]
to AnneMarie Hoch
RAR??? I should be nervous?
[AnneMarie Hoch]
the cat hops away, skittish, but the alure of food is too much, and it inches closer again, before with almost dainty grace takes the offered food, bite by bite.

by BITE. whoops – there seems to be little kitten teeth sunk into the tip of Andy’s finger.

AnneMarie looks over the cat and then returns her gaze toward Ewan and his tale of mutant cats.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
to Action Jackson, Ewan Selwyn
(*L* that depends. should ya be? last time I fought with Jacen’s char, Danny got her arm ripped off. *L*)
[AnneMarie Hoch]
to Action Jackson, Ewan Selwyn
(with=alongside)
[Action Jackson]
“Mutherfecker” He shakes his hand free and stands up, but does leave the food in place….”damn anime cats with their damn knives”
[Action Jackson]
to AnneMarie Hoch, Ewan Selwyn
((And Andy has the fortitude of a wet noodle…lol))
[Ewan Selwyn]
Dude.. cat’s don’t approach us… they can sense our… Oh shit. *He rolls ACROSS the hood to land on the far side of the car. BUT! He saves his burrito bag. He’s learned from Danny.* Did it get cha?
[Action Jackson]
“Just a little blood..see” showing his hand
[AnneMarie Hoch]
Andy stands up, and the cat hisses, and turns – STREAKING into the alleyway.

Silence.

Silence.

Silence.

PUNT-MEEEEEEREAAAAAAAAAAAAR! the cat comes FLYING back out of the alley, hits the street, crunch rollrollrollroll….

AnneMarie just watches, bemused – until the cat comes back, and there is a staff in her hand that wasn’t anywhere to be found before.

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan pushed the rest of the burrito into his mouth and tossed the remainder of the bag into the car* ‘ee? ‘Old uh!
[Action Jackson]
He’s about to suck on his finger when someone plays football with the kitty. Blank look to Ewan and then curiously at AM. Staff?

Then looks back to alley. “Ummmmm”

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan grunted and moved around the car. A sigh and he dips his hand into his jacket and came out with one of the throwing blades. A glance to the fenrir and nods. She could lead the way. Fenrir were good at that* Well lets not all stand around lookin’ like pussys. Andy you watch our backs.
[AnneMarie Hoch]
The Staff – ironwood and runecovered – tells a story. Hers. But there is no time to read it, as she looks toard Ewan and nods to the side as she silently asks for him to flank her. The staff spins, easily, comfortable – and something that allows for portection in homid until they know what is up.

To Andy, she points toward the Alley. Maybe he should go first, so he is not tempted by her ass. But instead, she nods that he take the other side, and starts toward the alleyway.

]inside the alley. silence. mostly. (….slurp.grumblesluuuuuuuurpp)

[AnneMarie Hoch]
The Modi has something of a sense of humor.

Maybe.

[Action Jackson]
Andy nods to both of them and watches their backs for a few seconds before realizing he was supposed to follow. And so he does. He’s so much better at binding spirits…why must he get his new jacket dirty? Sighing, he moves along as directed.

((Will need Stamina rating for whatever it is when ya get a chance))

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan concentrates and brigns forth the hearing that his totem gave him. Then ecolocates the alley to get a preview of what’s in there.*

to AnneMarie Hoch
Andy has ONE offensive weapon and it is purely defensive…Stench of the City
[AnneMarie Hoch]
[i]At the lead, AnneMarie hears it first, perhaps half a second before Ewan triggers in some fancy sonar like look inside. It’s at the back of the alley – FAR back, and it’s… well. hungry. In the darkness, there is two dumpsters – and refuse scattered, and in the back, a dark hulk… hulking. Shadows make it difficult to discern exaclty what it is, or even what size, or well, hell, even WHAT it is.

Ewan – he sees that it is to the left, in the corner, behind a dumpster, hovering over something.. Andy, he gets a general idea that there is a dumpster. Between them and the hulking skulking shadows.

And AnneMarie is Modi. She walks straight down the center of the Alley, her staff spinning lightly at her side, before she holds it, lightly, ready.

[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan gestures with the bat shaped throwing blade to the left and twirls it between his fingers. Checking “UP” just to be sure. DB’s children could fly, so he KNEW to check up. Then falls in to flank Am and raises a brow. He could get it’s attention with his throwing blade…. *
[Action Jackson]
He just follows them down the alley cursing his ill-luck
[AnneMarie Hoch]
A lift of her chin toward Ewan. agreement.

To Andy, she leaves him to answer to his Alpha, for now. She moves to the side, where she will have a good view, and with a point of her staff, slight, she directs Ewan to throw.

It’s over almost as soon as it begins. Ewan gets the things attention, and then it is slashing of ax, of claws, and Andy’s try to aid (or hinder as the case almost, almost was) with a gift. But the thing, thick and globby and slow is simply no match for the Eagle and the Bats. In fact, with the last swipe of AnneMarie’s claw, the thing quivers, shakes, screams it’s outrage…

….and explodes.

All over them – great big globs of snot and mucus… Poor Andy’s new jacket. That’s gonna stain.

[Action Jackson]
He sighs….trying to clean up the jacket as best he can…
[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan ducks his head, letting the bill of the aussie hat keep the stuff from his eyes and then peeks up and around. Spitting some goo from his mouth he raises a brow* See any more of um?
[AnneMarie Hoch]
The tall Modi only fights in crinos when it’s possible for a reason. A vigorious shake of her fur gets most of the ick off, enough to where there will be no stain upon her person when she shifts back. Which is exactly what she does, once she is assured there are no more lurking things in the dark corner. Claws turn to fingers that smooth her coat along her thighs, as she steps away from the mess.
[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan gets splattered with AM’s goo and dead pan looks at her. Then bends to poke the “Silver glinty thing” with his axe to see if it’s REAL silver or just shiny*
[Action Jackson]
He keeps a watch on their backs and their backtrail. Silent as he is supposed to do
[AnneMarie Hoch]
to Action Jackson, Ewan Selwyn
And Ewan finds the wicked looking blade is just that – shiny. For all the filth that surrounds them, the blade was perfectly clean, and wicked sharp. At least, it WAS wicked sharp, before it met Ewan’s ax. Not very good metal, at that, was it.

AnneMarie just arches a brow at Ewan’s deadpan look, before she turns to check on Andy. to the both of them, there is a dip of her chin in appreciation for their willingness to follow her in.

Just a little target practice, this one.

[AnneMarie Hoch]

[Ewan Selwyn]
Andy…. you seriously, need a bath man…. Caught a wiff of you there right before it tried to hack off my arm…… you reek bro.

*He picked up the blade with one goo covered hand and looked it over and tossed it to the modi* You wanna put it on the wyrm pole? I stuck a head up there the other day. Don’t wanna look like I’m hoggin’ it.

[Action Jackson]
He shrugs…”It has its uses Alpha…”
[AnneMarie Hoch]
She catches the blade as easily as she did the burrito earlier, with a slight nod. She’ll take it to the WyrmPole. She looks at Andy, and inhales, but it does not seem to bother her either way. At least not currently. She arches a brow, slightly, toward Ewan. But she is Modi. She goes for claw and teeth before thinking of other ways.
[Ewan Selwyn]
*He sloshes around in the puddles of snot. Bent over looking for something* What? You went all big and furry. Didn’t think THREE 10 foot monsters in one alley would go so well. Sides. I did ok.

Ah HA * He bends and picks up his throwing knife and flicks it. sending a SPLAT of goo to the ground*

[Action Jackson]
He walks towards the mouth of the alley still trying to wipe the goo away
[AnneMarie Hoch]
Amused. That’s not exactly what she was thinking – but then again, she chose not to share. She takes a few steps away, letting Ewan slosh around, but taking care herself not to get any (more) on her boots.
[Ewan Selwyn]
*He only then seems to notice the goo on himself and frowns* Well shit on me. *Starting to scrape it off. The axe explodes into millions of itsy bitsy little bats and fly up his arm. The throwing blade is tucked away, then he takes off the aussie hat and shakes the slime off it* Last monster I dodged the goo.. I”m getting slow.
[Action Jackson]
Just mutters…something about dry cleaning bills and the need for something called Jolt
[Ewan Selwyn]
*Ewan glanced towards Andy and chuckeld. Shaking his head* Can’t wait to see you strip in freezing weather to keep from getting this shit all over the seats of your Audi.
[AnneMarie Hoch]
A quirk at the corner of her lips signifies that perhaps laughter might be emminent. But oh, it fades so quickly, and there is only to touch of her fingertips on Ewan’s shoulder. Sympathy perhaps, for one groing old.

A shake of her head for Andy’s concern over his jacket, and presumably the seats of his car. Speaking of cars, however, she retreives her burrito from the top of Ewans, and finally opens it. And takes a bite that is almost.. dainty.. so careful and clean compared to most.

[Action Jackson]
“I have a tarp in the trunk….might help…maybe….”

He shrugs…

[Ewan Selwyn]
*He walks out of the alley and shook some more goo off his hat and hung it on the car antenna. then peeled off his jean jacket and shook it out. Then peeled off the western button up shirt. Under it he had a long sleeved teeshirt* Friggin’ artic city location…. I sware we’re entering the next Ice age… where’s some global warming when you need it?
[AnneMarie Hoch]
She pulls out her whiteboard, and answers the question for Ewan.

~Alaska.~

She takes another bite, chewing carefully. Apparently, her sense of humor is very, very dry. Unlike themselves.

[Ewan Selwyn]
*He reads as he pulls off his converse and tries to get the goo off them* Damn right. It’s colder than a witches tit out here. Some days I miss the desert.
[AnneMarie Hoch]
She nods, and writes.

~I must finish my patrol. Your help was appreciated.~

And then the burrito is rewrapped, and she tucks her board away before turning to resume her patrol.

(sorry – crashing big time. gonna bow out here – fever’s coming back)

[Action Jackson]
