[Theron Locke] Theron had finally managed to track down the Theurge Elder several hours before, he had contacted her and requested that they meet at her earliest conveniance. They had discussed various places to meet and it seemed in their movements, the park bench in which Theron now sat was the point that their paths would cross.
So he sat and waited for her to arrive, he wasn’t sure what her demeanor would be. Seeing the last time they crossed paths, she had lost a packmate.

[Lukas Wyrmbreaker] Antioch, Illinois, is very nearly at the Wisconsin border. This is a small, wooded suburb, quietly upper-middle class, lovely, squeaky-clean, perfection embodied. Only, it crawls with taint. It’s there in the air, seeping beneath the surface, stinging in their nostrils with each breath. They don’t even need a Gift to sense it.
On a tranquil side street just off Antioch’s main boulevards, Lukas parks his M3. Katherine is with him. Theron was told to meet here at a small neighborhood park — the sort of place mothers bring their children to play on a sunny afternoon. There are children’s playsets in the sandbox; winding paths over the acre or so of grassy open space, shaded by oaks that, this late in the year, have lost all their leaves.
“Gossamer-Wing-yuf,” Wyrmbreaker greets the Fenrir first, the only one here who is not one of Perun’s. “Glad you could join us.”
Then, turning to the small party, “I was up here last week looking for traces of the rumored Hive in the area. Word has it a few years back the Garou of Maelstrom dealt them a pretty devastating blow, but they’ve rebuilt since then. Could explain why we’re seeing so much activity down in the Protectorate.
“Anyway.” He nods toward the small brick structure in the corner of the park, by all appearances a public restroom. A very clean, well-kept one at that. “I found something suspicious in there. Let’s go check it out.”
[Joss Lehrer] Her demeanor is considerably better- though she still mourns. However, yesterday? She was paid for Godi work with ice cream. And that makes EVERYTHING ok. Especially when it’s Peanut Butter Brownie Bliss from Cold stone – double scoop in a chocolate dipped waffle-cone.
And a gift certificate for the same – which she’s currently enjoying the last of as she sits in Althea, licking the last of the goodness from her lips, from her fingertips, and in lue of using a napkin, wipes her hands afterwards on her skirts. She plucks the earbud from her ear, tosses her ipod on the passenger seat, grabs her bag and exits the vehicle – headed for the park, where she meets the Unbroken.
She doesn’t smirk. Visibly.
The discussion turns to a hunting party before it even begins, and she glances toward the structure with a nod. “Alright.”
[Katherine Bellamonte] Truth’s Meridian was dressed as she had been earlier in a pair of cream slacks and a white cotton turtleneck sweater. Her only concession to the purpose of this meet were the pair of sneakers on her feet and that her hair had been tied back from her face in a casual ponytail. She nodded in greeting to Gossamer Wing, and bumped against Theron’s arm in a friendly gesture of packmate to packmate before she turned pale eyes on their destination.
And drew a breath.
It appeared to be a public restroom. Not her favorite places in the world, she’d once watched a documentary on the number of diseases that were found on a swab taken in a public restroom’s door handle. The results had left her queasy for a week and a half. Irregardless, she pushes aside her uneasiness, and begins after the rest of the group.
[Theron Locke] Theron stands from where he was sitting, all the members of tonights posse having finally gathered. He speaks , his words solemn “You think they are out for retribution?”he speaks as he walks towards the small restroom.
“Evening Gossamer Wing” as he tries to offer a friendly smile, still unsure whether she bares any grudges from that fateful night when Evan fell. “Glad you could make it.”

The Ahroun removes a single, jet-black feather from the inside pocket of his leather coat. The shaft of the feather, if they look, is intricately inscribed in tiny glyphs praising Thunder, Perun, and the spirits of lightning and wind. He tosses it aloft. A wind catches the feather, drafts it upward toward the overcast sky until their eyes lose track of it.
A moment later, a distant rumble of thunder can be heard. A few seconds after that, the first patters of cool rain begin to fall.
Lukas pushes open the door to the bathroom. The women’s side, at that. Inside, the restroom is — to Katherine’s delight, doubtlessly — very clean, well-lit and well-appointed. The floor is expensive stone tile; the walls painted in tastefully muted colors. The sinks are large and gleaming, the mirrors spotless. Rather elegant sconces line the walls, and the stall dividers are solid, high-quality, thick. It looks like the bathroom of an upscale restaurant.
Lukas leads them to the handicapped stall, where — with little apparent reason — a door is set into the wall. If they’re keeping track, this is the wall that should divide the women’s room from the men’s.
“I’ll take point on this,” Lukas says. “Joss, if you don’t mind — rear guard? Theron, I want you to keep an eye out and heal us if necessary. Make that a priority over fighting. Gossamer-yuf, assist him if necessary. And Kate, I want you mostly doing flanking strikes.
“If you guys want to activate gifts or talens, now’s the time.”
(go ahead and roll gifts/talens/whatever. Lukas will wait as long as necessary for everyone to power up. My next post will initiate combat!)

The instant he hits, the darkhaired man disappears; a black dire wolf barrels into the barrier, splintering it off its hinges. On the other side is a rather narrow crawl-space, all bare drywall and unshielded lightbulbs, nothing like the rather upscale facade of the bathroom.
The wyrm stench here is worse. The crawlspace is long and narrow, sloping steadily downwards. At the end of the visible portion of the ramp, it turns to the left. Distantly, there are voices, which stop at the crack! of the battered door against the wall.
“–shh. What was that?”
“Sounded like someone busted down the door.”
“Poor motherfucker. Saddle up, boys. Let’s show ’em a welcome party.”
They can hear footfalls approaching.

[Lukas Wyrmbreaker] It’s a fearsome crew that hunts the wyrm into its lairs tonight. In seconds, the crawlspace is a slaughterhouse. Three Dancers fall in single bites from the Shadow Lord; another, in two from the Silver Fang. Not such a lady after all, she turns her jaws on the last, but he proves to be made of tougher mettle. Despite the efforts of Philodox and Theurge, the last of the Dancers stands impervious amongst the bodies of his packmates
and
laughs.
“Oh, you dung-fucking cubs are in for it now,” he snarls. The Garou Tongue is a perversion in his voice, heckling and mocking, twisted almost beyond comprehension. A trembling is starting up from the tips of his claws, the distal extremities of his body. It spreads over him, shivering his fur like grass in the wind. “You don’t know what you’ve stirred up.”
His maw drops open, thick foam dripping from his jaws. His eyes roll back in his head. He howls, leaping recklessly forward — and somewhere beyond the turn of the tunnel, something bellows in answer.
The ground begins to shake beneath their feet.

[Lukas Wyrmbreaker] A monstrosity — a cobbled-together creature, vaguely humanoid, enormous, bursts out of the very ground they stand on. The shaggy, powerful hindquarters of a goat end abruptly in the torso of a man, though the creature is quadripedal, hunchbacked, and its forearms are clawed and reptilian. Three heads crown its shoulders — a snarling wolf’s, bat-eared; a wall-eyed goat’s; and the last, most terrible of all, a human head with the jaw unhinged back to the ear. Its eyes are milky and blind. It snaps its dull teeth at them, torn lips pulled into a hideous rictus grin.
It’s about ten feet at the shoulders; perhaps as much as fifteen long. The crest of its humped back brushes the ceiling above them, and its body fills the tunnel entirely. To get around, they will have to run beneath it. The shockwave that shudders through the area with Zazuzu’s emergence is enough to topple the most athletic of humans, but then, none of them here are human.

[Lukas Wyrmbreaker] Bellowing, the titanic chimera falls. While others might go around delivering coup-de-graces to Zazuzu or the Galliard of the pack, Wyrmbreaker goes directly to the monstrosity’s gut, grimly tearing and clawing until Truth’s Meridian — now coated in pus and blood, more red and sickly yellow than white — slides out of the flesh of the beast like some sort of second birth.
The tunnel still stretches. When they go to the corner, they see that it continues down, down, down — they cannot see where it ends, but they can sense the taint that waits.
“Enough,” Wyrmbreaker says. “We’ll gather allies and come back with a larger group. Let’s gather trophies for the cleansing.”

[Joss Lehrer] She stands over the fallen Chimera as it falls, her lips curled, snarled, ready for another go… but it does not get up, and Lukas sees to freeing his packmate. She turns, instead, and delivers the coup de grace to Austin – because the bastard deserved it.
Only then does she shake herself, blood and gore flying, and melt down into her birth skin. She wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, and grimaces, flicking the gore gathered there off to the side. Then she gathers the things she needs from the depths of her godi bag, and helps in the cleansing/cleanup/body disposal.
[Katherine Bellamonte] Truth’s Meridian slides out of the beast’s belly with a snarl that is equal parts anger and revulsion at being devoured via the creature’s mouth. She kicks it, harshly, as she slides out of its stomach acid and gives a tremendous shake of her coat to rid herself of as much of the slime as she can, growling as she does and then, rubbing her hide against the sides of the cavern to rid her body of any remaining taint.
“Why do I always get swallowed?” The Silver Fang whines, as she begins to hunt around for trophies.
[Lukas Wyrmbreaker] The Ahroun whuffs in amusement. “Come on, it was Sam last time. You do always get covered in filth, though.”
The black hispo bumps his shoulder against the white’s, though; at once a gesture of reassurance and solidarity. The three of Perun form an unconscious unit; the alpha looks to Gossamer Wing.
“Thanks for your help, Gossamer-Wing-yuf.”
