Derek Anderson
The evening was going fairly well for Derek and Izzy. They had finished at a decent hour, giving him time to cook dinner, which they enjoyed in front of the TV as they did quite often. Of course, those two being faithful to themselves had home entertainment before and after dinner.
Dressed only in jeans, Derek was sitting in front of the television after a hot shower, a beer in hand, relaxing. The evening wasn’t done yet and there will be more exercising later. He had no work to do tonight so he thought he’d catch up on the news.
Penelope
The sight of a stretched Rolls Royce Phantom in a neighborhood like this was one that would certainly turns the heads of those who were out this late and walking their dogs. The car pulled smoothly into the lot and the lights were shut out. A second or two later two men stepped out of the car. Both in suits, one was the driver and the other paced around the car… You can’t expect someone to be driving a car like this around without security.
The driver pulled the door open and held out his hand. A woman in her mid twenties emerged in a brilliant white suit with a lovely black top underneath. Open toed shoes, and her hair held up beautifully. The diamonds dangling from her ears alone were likely worth more than a few of your average “Mission Dweller’s” paycheck.
She took the time to look over the neighborhood.”Quaint…”She said with a look of distaste on her face before glancing at the driver.”Shall we?”She asks allowing the driver to shut the door and approach the house to ring the Doorbell. Penelope stood at his flank slowly removing the gloves from her hands.
Her face showed little to nothing in the way of emotion but her eyes simmered with the weight of rage. She did not look like she wished to be here but… Family is important.
She looks at the man beside her and gives a polite smile.”Go ahead and wait in the car. I shouldn’t be too long.”
Izzy Montoya
Fresh from the shower herself, Izzy is stretched out on the couch, bare feet in Derek’s lap, a beer resting on her belly where she holds it loosely in her hand. Dressed only in a tank top and boxers, she looks as relaxed as he’s seen her – the way only he sees her. She has even forgone looking over case files and getting in some extra work to simply lay here, and watch the news.
Well, watch him watch the news.
There’s a book on the back of the couch, face down and open where she left off reading it who knows how many hours ago, and a newspaper on the floor next to her where it had been tossed aside to be picked up later. She’s too comfortable to read right now, and has little interest in the news that is always bad, and sometimes even means more work for her.
So this is Izzy. Relaxed and comfortable, the way no one ever sees her.
Until the doorbell rings, that is. She tenses immediately, her gaze gone from lazy to alert in the space of seconds. “We expecting company?” so few people know where they live, after all…
Derek Anderson
His hand had reaches inside the back of Izzy’s boxer to caress the soft, smooth skin under it. He was drinking from his bottle when the doorbell is heard. He frowns, shaking his head at Izzy’s question.
He gently push her away and gets up, not even picking up a shirt but grabbing his weapon on the way to the door and stuck it in the waistband of his jeans, in his lower back. He looks in the peep hole and doesn’t recognize the regal woman on the other side of it.
He unlocks the door to answer “How may I help you?” One hand was casually resting near his back.
Izzy Montoya
He pushes her legs off his lap, and she’s already in motion, reaching for her weapon as well. She pulls it from the holster, and stands, fluid and graceful, to move on silent feet to a place where she can remain hidden, yet see the door, and have a clear shot if needed.
Unseen, her gun held at her thigh, she thumbs the safety off, and listens.
Penelope
She smiles just a hint, recognizing the man instantly, her eyes meet his own and she draws in his scent slowly while looking him over a moment or two as if sizing him up.”Seems a bit of a casual greeting for family. You are Derek Anderson, I am Penelope Ignatio Morales de Zamora. I was told one of ours was living in town and I decided I should drop in and see to it we were introduced properly and in person.”She peels her gloves off her hands while watching him, waiting for him to recognize who, or what he is talking to.
Derek Anderson
He watches her up and down and tilts his head “Hmmm family you say?” When the woman presents herself, his memory starts to jog, trying to remember that name. Then he finally finds it. Dammit, now he might be in trouble..even with what happened in Pittsburgh.”
He rubs his cheek and step aside “Come on in Rhya” He says with a nod. “I’m sorry for my attire but if you had let me know you were coming, then I would have dressed differently”
The house is not a mansion but it’s far from poor, well furnished and not too cluttered..well except for what Izzy has left around.
“Izzy, I want you to meet one of my cousins who it seem just arrived. Her name’s is Penelope Ignatio Morales de Zamora. Rhya, meet my girlfriend, Izzy Montoya” He says as he introduce both woman
“Come to the living room. Would you like to have something to drink?” He ask, looking over his shoulder “And I’ll go find myself a shirt” He tells her as they reach the living room, smelling of good food and adult entertainment.
Izzy Montoya
She watches his reactions, as he decides he might be in trouble. She arches a brow, slightly, and does not bother apologizing for her own attire. Nor does she say anything, or call the other woman -rhya. in fact, she says nothing…
though the corner of her lips quirk to hear her named his girlfriend out loud. It’s something they so rarely do, after all… she rolls the sound of it around in her head, and then nods, slightly.
She flicks the safety back on on her gun, and moves back into the room. He goes to find a shirt, Izzy goes to reclaim her beer – and doesn’t bother to change. She simply sits on the couch, sets her weapon on the arm next to her, and takes up her drink again.
Penelope
Derek apologizes for his attire and she gives a slight lift to one side of her mouth. It wasn’t a smile simply a look of amusement that followed she she entered the house casually glancing around the room.”What? And ruin the surprise?”She asks him as she enters into the room.
“Your clothing is fine, I understand you work in Law enforcement or the like so I suppose you need some kind of cover.”She says as she enters.
When she hears mention of Izzy she offers a smile of greeting to the pure blooded kinfolk and a nod of her head. However when Derek calls her his girlfriend, she lifts a brow and her attention drifts over Izzy from head to toe.”Girlfriend… Two Pure Blooded kin, and you live together, in the same house, sleeping under the same roof and both of your tribes are okay with this?”She asks before looking between the two of them slowly.
She then shifts to find her way into the livingroom to follow him.”Go find your shirt I will be waiting right here.”
Derek Anderson
He grins at Penelope’s comment as he walks away to get his shirt “Not not really they aren’t” He disappears from a couple of minutes and comes back with a nice looking button down shirt tucked in dark pants. He might not be as well dressed as he could be but at least he look casually elegant and not just slumming.
He moves to the table and grab his beer and lift it up to his mouth, not sitting back, looking at the Garou “My family isn’t all right with this but the situation has been taken care of last weekend. Something that they have found acceptable.” He says with a shrug “But we’re not here to talk about my personal life right? What brings you to the city Rhya?”
Izzy Montoya
Something they found acceptable. She arches a brow slightly, at Derek, because he has yet to tell her the details of that little something, but her face smooths the question away once she returns her attention to their ‘guest’.
She says nothing about her own Tribe. She has yet to meet any here, and that is just fine with her – she plans to keep it so as long as possible.
Penelope
She tilts her head.”Well I will need to have words with your family then to make certain that this matter is alright by them.”She shrugs her shoulders.”I for one am not exactly happy with the idea that two kin carrying such fine breeding would shame their tribes in such a manner.”She says in a stern tone.”Still this land is not yet under our control so what can we expect? Just because your family is not here that is no reason to break with our traditions and ways.”She turns to look in Izzy’s direction and then back to Derek.”I am not of her Family but I can tell you firmly that if the Fenrir tribe learned you were… Using one of such pure blood in such a manner your very life might be on the line without the support of your tribe.”She says in a cold and impassionate tone. She was simply speaking protocol and tradition after all.
“I am here to speak of you and what you are and will be doing in service to your tribe. The fact that you have opted to live out here does not sever all ties and bonds to your Tribe. You are still a member of this tribe unless, of course, you wish to renounce your tribe. In which case we will have to find another tribe willing to accept you. We can’t just have our kin running around doing as they please now can we Derek?”She asks with a lift to her brow. She spoke in a level tone, she didn’t let it shift or waver much. She wasn’t exactly showing anger she was simply speaking. This was how Penelope spoke, after all.
Derek Anderson
He watches Penelope for a moment, his lips curling into a soft smile “Well Rhya, you can talk to my family all you want. I have no problems with it. As for who I am with, then again, my family will decide, not you. You are not my guardian after all. At least not yet.
In my ex city, my warder didn’t really take an interest in what I did, good…which I did a lot..and bad which I did little to none unless you really want to stick with my love life. There were no unmated Silver Fang female around and I’m not one to wait, sitting on my ass for one of them to knock on my door. I found Izzy and we’re good together
Did I thought tribe would let it be, no? But that is for later.
Now about the rest of your statement. I will serve my tribe the only way I know. With honor. What I’ll be doing for it is the same, help out any way I can. So what I suggest to you Rhya is that instead of thinking you can dictate me, is that you can always tell me what you desire and I’ll take it under consideration.
After all, you can let kin do what they want if they carry out their duties. If you want a dog, there’s many at the pet shop. I won’t be treated like one. That said, I’m very interested in hearing your thoughts about the tribe and the city. And what needs to be done”
Izzy Montoya
There’s a bristle under the skin, a curve of tension through the line of her spine, rippling along her muscles. Derek knows her well and can read what is under the tone, under the skin, under… He can likely pinpoint what exactly set off that reaction as well.
To her credit, however, she simply lifts her beer and takes another drink. Though, to be sure, her other hand clenches, briefly, before she slides her fingers along the arm of the couch, falling still once again.
Penelope
This is where she smiles though the look on that face was not one of kindness or warmth it was a smile of malice, it was almost cruel. Her eyes met Derek’s own and she stared for a moment or two.”I am not your guardian Derek… I am your elder. So long as you are a member of this tribe you will accept and follow through with my orders as they are given. When I give you advice you will nod your head and say “Yes Rhya” and you will dwell on it. When I ask your opinion on a matter I will clearly say “Derek what is your opinion on this matter” apparently I did not make this clear seconds ago so I am doing so at this very moment. Derek Anderson, you are a Silver Fang and I am your Elder. Do you contest this fact?”She asks him directly with her eyes meeting his.”Are you challenging my authority?”
Derek Anderson
He watches her for a long time, staring but not into her eyes, not moving. His face is hard and eventually he leans forward to put his bottle of beer down. He breathes slowly, evenly, his hands curling into fists for a moment, muscles and veins bulging.
Philodoxes…all a freaking gang of stuck up when they wanted to. Or maybe it was Fosterns…hard to say. The woman was the same rank and auspice as his sister and both thought the world should bow to them and lick their feet. He suddenly misses Chicago and Katherine’s disinterest.
“No” He says, not adding the rhya this time as he tries to calm down “You are the Elder…in this city”
Izzy Montoya
She clenches her jaw hard enough that teeth grind. Children. They’re all fucking children playing at grown up games, playing games of power and riches and using might over right in a war that will get them all killed – likely by their own instead of by the enemy. Bloated importance, irrational belief in immorality, in the hopes they will live forever in song…
Fuck the songs. She’s outlived dozens already, and will outlive still more. Fingers clench, slowly, then relax, though the muscle at the corner of her jaw jumps with rhythmic pressure.
Penelope
She nodded her head slowly.”I wanted to be sure of that… We can’t have our kin telling their elders how things are in this city now can we? Every battle I have fought, the deaths of all those who fought beside me were fought in service to a nation to which we all owe everything. When we step outside those boundaries, and chose to walk apart from the rules and traditions that make out society work and function we threaten to undo the entire nation that we have worked so hard to maintain. Order is not something that simply maintains itself…”She says before looking at Izzy.
“Now I have not come to mate you Derek or steal you from this lovely woman whom I am sure you spend quite a bit of time and share some form of lovely little bond with. However you are a Silver Fang, and you will be expected to carry out your duties when that time comes. This includes finding a mate, and fathering Silver Fang children. If I were you I would take time over the next few days to explain this clearly to your girlfriend.”She says as she turns her attention on Izzy.”Because I fear you might have misguided or mislead her into thinking that a long term relationship might indeed be possible when we all know it can only end in tears on one side or another.”
She turns her head back towards Derek.”We are a tribe who prides ourselves on Honor and to enter into a relationship with a woman whom you know you cannot keep both dishonors her as well as yourself. I would advise you, for yourself, to do what you know to be right in regards to this relationship.”She says with a little smile.
“As for you and I, and our working relationship… I will head home tonight and speak to your family. This Saturday I would like to see you out at my house where we can discuss tribal matters and what we will be doing to make certain this city transfers into capable hands.”
Derek Anderson
He nods “Of course not Rhya. I wouldn’t dare presume I know of fighting wars and losing people. You’re right. I need to learn authority and disciplines. Cops have none after all”
Yes, there was sarcasm in this.
His expression changes though “I know you’ll say it’s different for you and all so let’s leave it at that. I also know my duties. You’re not telling me anything I didn’t know already. Anything I haven’t been told last weekend.”
He frowns a little “You should call my family. If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re my sister’s twin. You’ll get along fine, I’m sure.
I’ll see you on saturday so I can listen to what you want “There will be no discussion after all and he knew it. It will be her telling him what to do and even if he wants to say something..she won’t ask for his opinion.
“Have a good night Rhya, see you this weekend”
Izzy Montoya
Her hand curls around the butt of her gun, and she pushes to stand, a move that’s sudden and fluid. Kora – well. She’d be proud of Izzy that she’s held her tongue, but she also would know that time has all but come to an end as she takes up her bottle, and starts toward the kitchen. Kora also would have already taken offense, though she’d likely discuss it much more calmly than Izzy is capable of. Which is why…
…Her teeth are clenched. Of all the rude, snobbish, irritating foppery cunts… to speak as if she’s not sitting right there? In her own fucking house?
Needless to say – she doesn’t say a word. To open the dam is to damn them both. She simply disappears into the kitchen.
Penelope
She nods her head and smiles back to him.”I have your number so I will call you to arrange that meeting.”She turns her attention back towards Izzy.”Izzy is welcome to come as well if she wishes. We have much to do in this city and we are going to need the cooperation of everyone involved before we can see to it that this city firmly falls into our grasp.”She says with a halfway polite smile to Izzy before waving her hand to Derek.”I will see you this weekend.”She says before turning to head for the exit and out the door to her Car.
The door was quickly opened for her and the driver and the other man were quick to dart into the car and within fifteen seconds they were gone!
(That writes me out! Thanks all for the scene and we will figure something out this weekend!)
Derek Anderson
(all right..see ya)
Derek Anderson
He let the Garou go and closes his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Well that went well” He says, then looks up at the ceiling. Well..things will be going..the way his family want them to after all
He walks to the kitchen and leans against the wall, watching Izzy “Will you be all right?” He says, sounding unconvinced for her..even for them.
Izzy Montoya
Will she be all right. She throws the bottle into the trash can hard enough that it shatters, and her hand – her hand is still wrapped around her gun. She sets it on the counter, then grips the edges of it tight enough that her knuckles are white. She. is. furious.
“No one fucking talks about me like I’m not fucking sitting right the fuck THERE. I am not misled. I am not misguided. I am most certianly not a motherfucking CHILD to be nattered at by that stupid fucking cunt who’s barely old enough to bleed.”
It’s all but growled, and she doesn’t look at him, not yet. “I haven’t pried. But what, pray tell, are these fucking arrangements you made with your family.”
Derek Anderson
He watches her “I know you aren’t. And we both know she’s stuck up. Problem is..what will you do about it? Really? Be angry, sure, swear..of course, shoot something else but other than that? Nothing. You shoot her, you die. You insult her, you get beat up, maybe killed. And we’re in a situation where no one will stand up for you..and i mean one of them.
Like me earlier, you suck it up or you get fucked. Penelope won’t be around that long, so I just need to pretend things are going her way.
As for my family, they wanted to arrange a mating for me. Got me to meet all those suitors. They had arranged things with another family amongst other things. I got some respite from all that, but they will force me to mate. If not them, hell Penelope will.
So I have to step around all that or get my ass taken back to Pittsburgh.”
Izzy Montoya
Soft. “And why didn’t you just tell me that.” A fang ball he’d said, a celebration for family only. She knew he’d been lying – not outright, no, but one of omission, one that was confirmed when he came home injured, beaten. She’s far from stupid. She knows this is bound to end worse than her last… but a reprieve would ave been nice. It was nice, for the whole two weeks it lasted.
“I have given them fucking everything. And they still fuckin….” She shuts up, and shakes her head, slightly. Clamping down. Closing off. Shutting it away. “It doesn’t matter. None of it ever does.”
She’d let herself become vulnerable for him, with him. She looks down at her gun, and finally reaches to click the safety on, and it’s like turning off a switch, closing everything off, tucking it all deep inside again. She turns toward the stairs, and their room above. “I’m going to bed.”
Derek Anderson
He tilts his head “Because it was just a part of the weekend…my parent’s motivation for throwing this big ball. They gathered all the Silver Fang from the East Coast and some from all over the States. Many of them were single and the Elders wanted them to mingle, while some family arranged things with others, like mine and Claire’s.
Who do you think I had an argument with? Her and I left then my sister’s pack came for me and I pissed Dennis off. ”
He lets a long breath out “Still right now, until we can get Penelope out of the city..I”m…we’re.fucked.”
He shakes his head and watches Izzy leave “I’ll join you later”
He says and for the first time since…ever, they won’t go to bed together.
