Training [Evan]

[Evan McCollach]
Around the edges of the Eagle’s turf still stood those three wyrm-ridden skeletons of the three fallen fimbul wolves. The largest of the three was were Evan had started to set up his own little place, along the western boarders. The corpse, or at least what was left of it, was still maintained, the glyphs still in place and the sign all too important to be forgotten.

Here Evan had made it his own place to meditate, to reflect and above all to train. The pole that held the corpse seemed to have a thicker, larger companion along with it. This one however was far from maintained well. The pole was marked up, dents in the thick wood. Blood stained and splintered in points.

This one above all had special meaning in his mind. This one froze him during the battle, kept him from trying to recover the lost soul of Alaric, kept him from his packmates. Partly he blames this creature of his failures, partly himself.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
She had, once she returned home, made sure to walk the edges of territory, to re-familiarize herself with the boundaries, and even with the three fallen Fimbul Wolves that mark the corners. She has spent years patrolling every inch of these blocks in the green, on both sides.

Today, however, she has a mission. Today, she winds her way toward where Evan has made a space his own, bettering himself in battle, training so that what he sees as failure can be used to learn from, rather than as something that may cripple him in the future.

Her steps are even, strong, long, and she looks the same as she always has, even with the longer hair, the more toned down style of dress (that lacks nothing in style itself.) She, as is her way, says nothing. She simply waits for him to acknowledge her.

[Evan McCollach]
He had been sweating a little as he went at the post, kicks and punches launched with reckless abandonment. His pine green eyes focused on the target like it was the fimbul wolf once again brought to life. In these few moments one can see the warrior that stirs within him, the rage that boils just on the surface.

One can see the ancestry still within him, the blood of royalty could be noticed at times. The warrior kings that he might once he could call family, call tribe flickered to life one more time here. And Eagle was afterall among falcon’s own brood. Patron of House Wyrmfoe.

“Come to challenge me AM?”

he knew that part of her still wanted it, she was Beta for some time. Even as they all were Eagle’s, beta was still closest to Decker in some ways.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
AnneMarie. She corrects him absently, watching as he went at the post, focused and strong, judging the way he throws his punch, the way he pivots his body, the way he goes at it with abandon and recklessly. A brow arches, slightly, and the corner of her lips curve into something of a smirk.

And perhaps. Perhaps not. Do you intend to beat him so recklessly without thought of the placement of your firsts?

Not one for subtlety, Ruhiger. She steps toward the pole, toward the Fimbul remains, and points. Here, here and here. This is where the damage would be best served. When you swing with abandon, you expend energy you may need to catch the wolf waiting behind him, to finish off what his brother had started. Find the softspot, and destroy it.

She is Modi. It is her place, even at lesser rank, to help her packmates improve.

[Evan McCollach]
The crescent moon shown above in the umbral sky, lighting up the drab look of the weaver-wrapped buildings. The only thing that seemed to outshine Luna’s brow was that of the Anti-helios, bright and red as it claimed a major portion that Luna and Helios once shared alone.

And as the blows came down, starting to become more focused as the Modi stood before the post, pointing to the places that would do much more damage. Until he stopped fully and turned to the full-moon.

“I never did thank you for training me early on, did I?”

Was it necessary? Probably not, but he nodded in thanks.

“This post has taken much abuse. And it is not much of a target, doesn’t fight back. Care to have me take you up on that training offer?”

His pine green fell upon her, he remembered that off-handed comment she made that night had become Beta. Part of him didn’t even expect to win that night, but it had happened.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
That brow quirks upwards as he thanks her for the early days, though in the early days it was much more her irritation that sent them scrapping more often than not. But she accepts it with a slight nod.

And then she smirks. It could not be a smile in any sense of the word – this one is pure predator, and would make any one discover a certain joy in the darkening moon. That smirk while her moon rides pregnant and high is a frightening thing indeed. However, over the years, perhaps the one thing her packmates find easiest to learn about her is this: She loves to spar. If given the choice of making love, and going toe to toe in a friendly battle to beat each other bloody – most would say she’d choose the second, hands down. They’d probably be right.

All she says though, as she peels out of her jacket, is this: I would be honored. Name your terms.

[Evan McCollach]
He had come to learn a great deal about AM. She did keep some things to herself and she knew had to keep secrets. Maybe for the fact that he didn’t dig too deep into her past if she didn’t want him to.

“Homid form, no might of Eagle. We do not need to kill each other after all. However beyond that, everything else goes.”

[AnneMarie Hoch]
She nods her acceptance, and tosses her jacket aside, leaving her in a simple white knit tank top. The tattoo that circles her left bicep almost seems to shine here in the umbralscape, as if begging to be let loose, but she does not call it forth.

At least, not yet.

Instead, moves to stand before him, away from the pole so it does not disturb what will become their sparring circle. She stands relaxed, though he would know beneath that is is ready, and she – of reflex – summons her will to resist the pain he might inflict on her. After all, being hampered by injury merely adds insult to it. She spreads her hands slightly at her side… ready.

He smiled as she seemed to ready himself as she did as well. The ability to resist pain called forth from the depth of his being. She knew that he had that one skill on hand, as well as the ability to soak through Luna’s own blessing. He had called upon it, gripping for that which he would hope would aid him today take on the blows that were to come.

“Here is one you saw the night I fought with James.”

[Evan McCollach]
“And here is something the pack has yet to see of mine.”

The soft glow of the Luna’s armor seems to disabate in moments as he stretched outward, arms spread wide as he called upon old ties. His body glowing brightly, brighter than that of Luna’s own glow above. A blaze of light spring forth. Almost blinding her, making it hard to see, let alone attack.

“Ready?!”

(Lambent Flame active)

[AnneMarie Hoch]
Her other battle gift would not aid her here, though she has not many to call from, as she has spent so long as Cliath. Her road has not been easy, but where gifts fail her, she still has the might of experience behind her.

He speaks, and she nods, remembering. Then he begins to glow, and she arches a brow, slightly. Interesting. Though it is not something she has not dealt with before – other’s she has fought with have possessed the gift. Of course, she was not trying to HIT them.

A lift of her chin signifies she is ready.

[Evan McCollach]
It seemed that maybe Evan had gotten a little better at this sort of thing. She had come at him hard. probably not her hardest but damn near close to it and he was on his feet. Then again the gifts he had learned had aided greatly in this endeavor.

Luna’s armor seemed to glow on underneath beneath the silvery flame that Silver Fangs held so well as there own. His offensive and defensive gift had kept this from being so one sided, unlike last time.

But the Modi Fernis seemed to stand her own. Coming in quick with two quick blows that register, taking him down hard and quick, fighting through the blinding light that made it slightly harder for her to come to hit him full force. However the blessing of Luna aided him even more. Holding off that headbutt.

His own blows came in. The first kick seeming to test her range checking to see if her staff was going to come forth. However when that staff stays within her glyphs, just waiting to expose itself. He was stunned for a very brief second, only to come back with a punch, hitting her slightly. And finally came his last punch, connecting another soft blow.

But enough soft blows start to become hard. Oh yes It seemed that Evan had learned. It would definately make the Modi proud.

He had learned. She acknowledges that, and respects it. In fact, had she come home to find him without any improvement, that would have been a far different story.

But for now, she simply presses her attack, and steps in again.

[Evan McCollach]
At first it may have been the evan’s chance to take this on. He might have had a chance to do something, to prove something. But that is not the case anymore. The natural, and frightening, ability to heal at such a rate seemed to give her the upper hand. Even as it seems that the strain of the battle has weakened his potential to do so.

Advantage Ruhiger.

Then there was the battle itself. The quick flurries of punches at first seem to come without any means, the first missing to the left. But maybe it was to allow her to guide the second better. Only to find the strength of Luna’s armor still about him.

Evan comes back with his own punch, a connect to the abdomen that seemed to only make the Modi smile. Yes she probably was smiling, this was her element and he was deep within it.

She comes back to hit him again, and again, finding weakness in his armor. Connecting. Flesh upon flesh, bones seeming to break and blood pooling, spilling over ripped skin. She had found her stride now.

And Evan… it seemed that he was becoming reckless once more. It seemed he had lost his focus, his aim. It seemed he was reverting before the might of the Modi cliath.

But they still stood. The fight was not yet over.

[Evan McCollach]

[Evan McCollach]
(And he’s out
[Evan McCollach]
The Modi was not going to be outdone. Not this night. Not by some silver fang-wannabe turned coggie. Because Gaia forbid anyone ever hears that she was bested by a child of Gaia. Fernis himself might come down and strip her of the right to be a get after all.

And in that moment she came at him without reserve. All her strength coming at him without holding back any longer. Her form recouping what little damage he did earlier. And the flurry of punches come int one quick attack. The first striking, and finding, flesh. But it glanced off, over his shoulder. The next coming at him again. Once again finding its target, only to hit the strongest part of his armor deflecting it away.

But the third hit, the last one of her flurry would have come at him. Crushing the last of his armor and that flame that wrapped about him. And in that moment he let out a groan of pain, flopping over as all the wind sped from his body.

No longer did he glow with Luna’s armor, no more did he shine with the blessing of silvery light. He just laid there, labored breathing as he had succome to the strength of the Modi. Laid out once again.

[AnneMarie Hoch]
He succumbs and she steps back as he falls. She takes a breath, steadying herself, before she goes about straightening the tanktop that is no longer white, but splattered with his blood. The light goes out, and she can once again see his form, and judge the damage done, and how much healing it will take. Not as much as there should have been, but enough to put him down.

Good enough.

She sink to a crouch by his side, and waits until he is coherent enough to speak, her eyes watching the distance, on guard over her fallen packmate. So she remains until he stirs, until he’s ready to shift and heal and make his way home. By that time, there is not a mark on her. By that time, it doesn’t look like he’s even gotten a hit in – and it’s very clear he’s found the worse end of things once more.

Lips curve into a smirk, and her brow lifts slightly as she offers him a hand to help him stand. Only then does she comment. Better. Still a long way to go, but definitely better.

High praise from the oft silent and even more oft unforgiving Modi.

[Evan McCollach]
